In Navajo-Style spinning, a large, low-whorl spindle is used supported on the ground. The spindle typically has no hook, so you are spinning off of the point of the shaft.
To draft, hold your fiber source in your left hand loosely, with your palm facing upward. Gently tug back on the fiber source as the twist enters it.
The most important thing it to keep the spindle moving, not just during the roll up your leg and toward your hip, but also as you lift the moving spindle in your cupped fingers and transfer it back down to your knee for another roll. Your fingers and thumb make an "OK" sign and the spindle shaft is held in that "O" while you move it, allowing it to continue to turn.
