What if you don't have any spun yarn with which to make a leader for spinning?
You can do it from your fiber source!
Snag a little bit of fiber from a folded section, and gently give it enough twist to get it going. When it feels strong enough to support the weight of the spindle, you can spin it a little harder. Continue drafting until you have a length that will enable you to begin winding it around the spindle shaft. Then, just keep on spinning!
