The inchworm draft (also known as fingered twist) is a controlled means of allowing the twist to enter the fiber source. Depending on the preparation of the fiber you're spinning, you will obtain a worsted or semi-worsted yarn using this drafting style.
Pinching your fiber source securely, give the spindle a gentle twist and allow it to continue to rotate. Using your non-drafting (right) hand, pinch the spun singles and at the same time, pull the drafting (left) hand back,, allowing a little more unspun fiber to enter the drafting zone.
Slide your right hand up the drafting zone, allowing the twist to enter the fiber in a controlled fashion, making a firm, smooth yarn. Then pinch with the right hand again, draw back with the left hand again to release more fibers, and repeat the process until it's time for another twirl of the spindle.
Move up your fiber source in this way, "inch by inch," keeping control of the draft at all times.
